another quality install.....?
Went on a service call today and found this set-up. It's facing the wrong way! Notice the parts still left on the top.
Anyway, the A$$ clowns that put it in are no longer in buisness.

Funny you ask.....2 reasons. The customer complained that at night (lately the overnight temps were in the single digits) the indoor temp would fall down to 62 when the stat was set at 70, then run forever before warming up in the day. They also complaned about the outside unit's fan stopping and steam roaring out of the unit....something's wrong with it. When it would do that, they would put it in emergency heat for a while, then switch it back.......
Well, the second problem, I explained was a "defrost cycle" and is normal.
, the first was the thermostat's W2 not being hooked up, (W2 to E jumper) so the aux ht wouldn't come on when needed. It only worked when switched to emer ht, thus the installers "F"up, which was expected based on the way it's installed.

Did you address the ductwork, looks like poop. How was the supply trunk coming off the unit.
I would of gotten fired for that install,
Very sad to see that work, It just make the good people work harder to get a job and be trusted with contractor like that ot there.Life is too short to give a SH*T about the small things, Thing could always be worst!
Karma is great!

At that point, I didn't want to add insult to their injury. The ductwork was installed around 25 years ago, the equipment there was a changeout done a few years ago. Sadly, what they payed for the changeout was what most people would do the comeplete system with ductwork for.
That's one of the main reasons the co. is out of buisness, charging very high prices for sub-standard work. Rumor has it they are being sued by a lot of customers for that kind of work and not going back to fix their problems. I recall one job by them that I went on....They charged a lady $750 to braze a small hole in a unit and add a little freon to it. They then turned it on and discovered that the compressor was "locked up" and told her that she needed a new compressor, meanwhile they charged her the $750 anyway just for comming out! They were there for 45 minutes. Needless to say, I got the job to change out the system.
