amazing! wonder how many times he has done that?
Customer called in complaint of "No Heat" on Emergency Service. The installation was originally done by our Company about four years ago. The customer has never been serviced by our Company since the original install. When we arrived at the home it was found that the igniter had failed at the furnace. But the greatest part of the visit was that the homeowner paid Joe Blow to finish off their basement. Basically, Joe Blow did about 70% of the work and rolled out with her money. When Joe Blow was doing is spectacular finished basement, I guess he decided to be creative with his bathroom exhaust venting. Joe Blow cut a hole in the 4" B-Vent Flue that was connected to the furnace to accomodate the connection of his bathroom Exhaust Fan. Three years this homeowner has had the exhaust fan cut into her flue. Talk about lucky...

Exactly! That poor woman I thought was going to have a heart attack when I showed her. She was so upset and cried and just kept thanking me. It was ridiculous. I will never understand how people can do things like that and still sleep at night.
Just when you think you have seen it all! Honestly!
I r the king of the world!...or at least I get to stand on the roof and look down on the rest of yall
Thats a silent but deadly mix!

Because they don 't know any better. No permit, no knowledge no problem, besides he was the cheapest bid.
Proud supporter of Springfield Millers and Oregon Ducks.
As i lay me down to sleep I pray the lord my CO to take.
"It's always controls"
I came across a 90% furnace covented with a powered draft water heater. At least it was a pvc wye fitting pointed in the right direction.
Aircraft Mechanical Accessories Technician. The Air Force changed the job title to Air Craft Environmental Systems Technician. But I've decided I'll always be a Mech Acc.
That reminds me of the house next door to me that was basically gutted and redone. New furnace, water heater. The inspector, who sees my HVAC truck, knocks on my door and asks me to come look at something. Get over there and look in the utility closet. The gas water heater flue is vented out the top, goes up about 24", 90 degree elbow to the left and directly into the supply plenum of the furnace. That's right, I'm not kidding. The inspector says, " I don't think I'm going to pass this." DUH
You can't fix stupid
Somehow that doesn't surprise me. There's a "--------'s Appliance and AC Repair" company in Tampa that does some of the worst installs I've ever seen. Criminal, really. Gotta love >60% duct losses and 90% attic air returns.
Even worse are the HOs who think they got a "great deal!" because they paid so much less than the reputable contractors in town wanted. Of course, they're paying dearly in higher electric bills and unsafe operation, but hey, look how much money they saved!
