Refrigeration Training
Where do Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration Mechanics get their training? It seems most trade schools barely touch on the Refrigeration side.

Here's the one i attended 40 years ago, so they are out there. PS: Of course this 2 year program has been updated, and upgraded over the years, to keep up with our ever changing trade. "Seek, and Ye Shall Find"!

Our training program is all in house with some basics at our in-house training facility. Most is on the job training working with experienced mechanics and ultimately letting the entry-level mechanics work on their own, starting them on easy calls and working them into progressively more difficult calls.

And for what is worth, the past couple employees we hired straight out of trade school seemed to come preprogrammed to be residential sales techs.

Find rack/case manuals online - Hill have lots of info on their site.
Copeland has lots of info on the internet as well. DuPont refrigeration handbook is also another good source.

My program will cover Light Commercial Refrigeration in the 2nd year and Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration in the 4th year.

It all depends on what college you attend ,, I'd be looking at one where students have participated & even placed in the World Skills Competition.

The primary function of the design engineer is to make things difficult for the fabricator and impossible for the serviceman.
