Please help me understand...
I posted this question in my wall of shame thread, but thought I get better respond here. So if I violate any double-post rule please forgive me and delete this thread.
The "wall of shame" thread: http://hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=190822
This is referring to my installation which you guy can view here:
The question is:
Can you guy help me understand the problem with drawing combustion air from attic vs. outside? What the effect of trap water in 3x2 adapter?
If you don't have adequate ventilation, the attic will go negative. then, you will draw air from the house.
Water trapping in that reducer can cause the pressure switch to not make. Then, you got no heat.
Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll see if I can ask the contractor to vent out directly without the adapter. Also to take in fresh air.
Can you get some more pics of the drains? IMO, the two drains need to be seperate, if possible....

venting should also be insulated in unconditioned space.
