    Employee Free Choice Act?

Anyone aware of this? Any opinions? I have a feeling I know how this one will be divided amongst our members here, but I am hoping everyone at least knows what is going on.

So, why do so many oppose this act?

If the Board finds that a majority of the employees in a unit appropriate for bargaining has signed valid authorizations designating the individual or labor organization specified in the petition as their bargaining representative and that no other individual or labor organization is currently certified or recognized as the exclusive representative of any of the employees in the unit, the Board shall not direct an election but shall certify the individual or labor organization as the representative described in subsection (a).
No more secret ballots. There is no more vote (election). All it takes is some intimidation and coercion to get enough cards signed. Poof. The union is in the shop.

That's right. The union just has to present enough signed pledge cards to the board.

And the fleecing of America continues...
Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.

I like the way the unions try to make "secret ballots" sound like some sort of a bad thing. Secret ballots are the American way. "Sign zee papers" is from a bygone era I for one would not like to see return.

I work as a committee member with my local ACCA chapter and am working on getting information out to my contractors through the local ABC chapter. I am not just another whiner dash, I get involved by putting my time and money into issues I am concerned with.

This would sure be nice to be able to do, but when one special interest group is paying to put politicians loyal to them into office, the only thing to do is to fight money with money. That is unfortunately what lobbying is all about; always has been, always will be.

One special interest group???? Are you kidding?
In DC everyone that ever gets anything is represented.

It's unfortunate that American workers don't have more.
Unions are visible in DC but I can't think of any others fighting for workers.
Even AARP is really an insurance company.

Robo, you've stated again and again about Union bosses, thugs etc. Corporations are very capable of intimidation, breaking the law, scatter the flock. If the workers want to bargain collectively they should and it should be as ez as possible.
Tell us how would you fight for workers rights? Wait for them to be gifted to them?
    Tracers work both ways.

    I just don't get it.

Apparently it is OK for contractors to form organizations like ACCA or ABC to look after their interests.

But it's dangerous if the employees do it.

They both look like unions to me.
