Nice clean up there... Is the A/C oversized as well?

Did you hook up 2nd stage to a two stage stat or left it off since the duct is undersized?

Yes, But I don't understand why he cut the top of the Trane tag off? Maybe to put on his Goodman install? You would think he would have at least taken the model # he just cut Trane off ??

We usually only use drain pans above or in a finished area or with a cond pump. Not usually in a basement the drain is only 30" behind the furnace.

A/C is over by a 1/2 ton but he did not have either Y connection connected just using G was delivering 800 CFM on a 3 ton. The complained of noisy he said it could nont go on the ground and put carpet under unit. LOL - The Common from outside was screwed to the furnace cabinet?- I left 2nd stage off

He cut the top of the tag off because it would have designated that unit as being an XB series condensing unit rather than the XR series that the plastic plate claims.

The original contractor installed the XB instead of the XR that he billed the HO for and is covering his A$$.

He screwed the customer of even more money, and also 5 years of compressor and outdoor coil warranty.

Your work looks a lot better than the original. Not sure I like the box return. Did you put vanes in it? Also not a fan of cutting humidifiers onto coil cases. I would've return mounted it and used hot water.

No copper gas lines here, everything is black iron. Nice save tho!

I was trying to pick up as much of the drop as possible. No vanes.

I'm not a fan of cutting into the coil case either but.. the water heater was in the way on return side.

Seems everything built in last 20 years has copper around here.

You mean the drain line that runs horizontal on the floor? Otherwise, there is no horizontal drain that I see.

All that work you did to correct the install and your furnace condensate line is still wrong. You need to have a vented tee in the furnace condensate with an outlet pipe that extends just above the outlet of the secondary heat exchanger drain outlet otherwise this homeowners furnace is going to go out on the pressure switch and if not corrected condensate will back up in the cold header assembly and foul up the connections for the cold header box. Remember the most important part of any system is the "installation instructions!"

That just to bad really, its the customer that ends up with a messed up system. The person who put it in should be ashamed of him self. With all the techologany we have now days and heat load's etc there should be no reason for WAY oversized hvac equipment, but then again we are dealing with hack's and part timers... For the people who do a good quality job and service now those are the guys in my book who deserve a pat on the back for a job well done, which i doubt they rarly get thou.

Also noticed that you need to seal/caulk the exhaust on the furnace as well. Im not sure i would leave the copper gas line in i know that our local inspectors would not pass that.
