    Is spelling important to a potential employee?

    "Needed, skilled experieced leed installer. Quality is required!! If you are a motivated, neet, organized, skilled hvac installer with some layout experience. Reply to this with your resume. If you are not a self starter or a motivated person do not apply."

    I have to wonder about working for a person that can not spell.
    If you can't spell basic English how do you run a business or be competent in HVAC?

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

    LEED or Leed may refer to:

    * Low-energy electron diffraction
    * Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, standard for Green Building design
    * Leed (soft drink)
    * LEED Publishing Co., Ltd., a Japanese publishing company established in 1974

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

    Look up NEET in Wiktionary, the free dictionary.
    For the fish of the same name, see neet (fish).
    For the record label founded by M.I.A., see NEET (record label).

    NEET is an acronym for the government classification "Not currently engaged in Employment, Education or Training". It was first used in the United Kingdom but its use has spread to other countries, including Japan, China and South Korea.

    In the United Kingdom, the classification comprises people aged between 16 and 18 (some 16 year olds are still of compulsory school age). In England, Wales and Northern Ireland students must finish year 11 (year 12 in Northern Ireland). In Japan, the classification comprises people aged between 15 and 34 who are unemployed, unmarried, not enrolled in school or engaged in housework, and not seeking work or the technical training needed for work. The ‘NEET group’ is not a uniform set of individuals but consists of those who will be NEET for a short time while essentially testing out a variety of opportunities, and those who have major/multiple issues and are at long term risk of remaining disengaged.

    What are you and english teacher all the sudden? If he treats me right and pays well, I could care less if he talks in pig Latin and thinks a thesaurus is a dinosaur.

    Nope not even close to an English teacher. I did choose to go to school to get an education to work on HVAC systems, which means I have to know how to read and write. I expect the same from my employer.

    wheres this add located anyway, I'm tired of being written up and bad reviews. He can pay me in cash so that he doesn't misspell anything on the check.

    I agree.

    If I see typos or misspelled words on an employer's job listing, I don't even bother applying. It tells me that either the owner or the people hired on by him/her aren't too bright.

    Nobody wants to work for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

    Eye due knot sea a problem with oak asian Al miss spellings.

    Seriously, we have lost our language to a great extent. Between a poor education system, text-speak, acceptance of foreign languages as normal, and spell checkers, the common language is barely recognizable as English.

    Reading work tickets almost requires a translator.

    The question I have about the original post is this, did the employer makes thos mistakes? Where was this ad seen?

    I doubt if the employer typed the ad into the newspaper computer. Probably a teen aged intern.

    Would you bet, for example, that the ad was not placed from the hiring manager's home computer, by his seventh grader while he dictated the text from his seat on the couch?

    What I'm suggesting is that there are many explanations for a misspelling today.

    It matters on resumes submitted to me.
    Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.
