Best Option
My old HVAC System died yeterday. I received a couple differenct quotes but am unsure which in is my best option.
Quote 1. Installation of a Trane 2.5 Ton XR13 R-410A Heat Pump System with Variable Speed indoor air handler. This system price will include removal and disposal of old
equipment, new outdoor heat pump (4TWR3030), pad, pump-ups, indoor air handler (4TEE3F31A1000A), 10 kw back-up heater, programmable t-stat (TCONT802), new
refrigerant lines, new condensate pump & drain, new electrical disconnect, new electrical whip, all duct work needed to tie the new air handler into the existing
duct system, complete system start & check, and all labor & materials needed to complete the job.
Quote 2
2. Option 1 amana 14seer 410a heatpump , variable speed airhandler, 8kw elec backup heat. warranty lifetime unit replacement on outdoor 10 years parts and labor
option 2 goodman 14seer 410a heatpump, multi-speed airhandler, 8kw elec backup heat. Warranty lifetime compressor replacement 10 year parts and labor.
Option 3 amana 13seer r-22 heatpump, multi-speed airhandler, 8kw elec backup heat. Warranty 10 years parts and labor.
Option 4 goodman 13seer r-22 heatpump, multi-speed airhandler, 8kw elec backup heat. warranty 10years parts and labor.
If Quote number 1 and Quote number 2 option 1 and 2 are about evenly priced, which is my best option??
Thanks,

Thanks for moving it for me. Which one is overall the better brand or are they about the same?

goodman is lower end price wise , amana is mid range , trane is upper end. all three will do the job well if installed correctly. you may consider the upper end systems for the quiet operation. the amana is fairly quiet, i've installed goodmans that were fairly quiet and some that sounded like threshing machines. go with the installer you trust.

Thanks for the advice Smittyii.
Is there a big difference in 8kw backup heat and a 10kw backup heat?
Also what is the difference in a mulit stage and variable stage blower?
Thanks

without knowing square footage , insulation values etc... its impossible to know if the 8kw is sufficient. have a heat loss/gain load calculation done to determine your requirements. also some manufacturers "round up" on the kw's of thier heat kits.

The Amana is top end equipment (not the goodman or amana distinctions, just amana). The amana 410A heat pump has better HSPF ratings than the Trane equivalents. The Amana also comes with a lifetime warranty on its copeland scroll compressor.
It doesn't really matter either way if your installer isn't any good. Go with who you like as a professional to do that job right.
