    How many N2 buses on a fx60?

I know 2 has been done before but how about 5?
We have a site with 5 partially filled N30's and we would like not to have to recable the place, or keep the N30's and do BacNet.
    Thanks in advance

It all depends on the number/type of devices on each segment

I was wondering if there is a driver limit about dealing with 5 busses at once or a liscenceing problem
    thanks

No there is not, unless they've changed it very recently.
    I've never seen a limit.

I would consider this replace the 5 N-30's with 5 FX-20's add an FX server and your good to go. Why load up an FX-60 ? If it crashes you loose access to your whole site. The N2 trunks can stay put no electrical labor to cover. Room for expansion down the road and a happy customer. Just my opinion thats all.

It will take 5 with no license problems. We have one with three, 2 loaded heavily and the third relatively light...and the EM60 still has alot balls left.
But I agree with Cal1, if the 5 n2 trunks are not reasonably spaced together, that could be more trouble than its worth.

As far as The N30/Bacnet thoughts...dont do it man...dont do it!

    Thanks Guys
The 5 N30's are in the same cabniet so cabling is not a problem.
There is virtually no budget for this job (typical for this coustomer)
so I will try the 5 busses
    thanks again.

Ps:So Freddy not ready to take a crack at my Modbus post ?

Because I have never seen your issue, and in any case you have already done the things I would of suggested.
So I was waiting for one of the wizbangs answers.

I guess the problem is multiple addresses. If you can combine a couple of the networks into one, buy the expansion module for the additional (2) RS-485 networks, it would work just fine.

There can be up to 5 jcin2networks. so multiple N2 addresses from the
existing five N30's would not be the issue.

    If I understood you correctly?

I am making the assumption that bus #1 can have a controller #1
and bus #2 can have a controller #1 and so on is that correct?
