Beer Battered Deep Fried Chicken
Im pulling out the ol deep fryer today to whip up some Fried Pickles and Chicken and whatever else I can throw in there.
Was wondering if anyone had a good beer batter that I can use for this event today?
Thanks
Wolfer

I'll bite...
This batter will handle about 1-2 lbs of product...
1-12 Ounce beer of choice...Use your own judgment here...I prefer using darker ales, but hey, what do I know...stouts, lagers, they're all good
Flour...Enough to give a thick pureed-soup-like consistency...begin with 1/2Cup, whisk till smooth, add a bit more until it clings and coats a spoon well.
1/2 t. of Baking Powder: This little gem will give a nice flaky result, owing to a reaction with the hot oil which produces CO2 in the batter, puffing it up nicely...
Salt and Pepper--essential--to taste...
1 Egg
Nice handful of chopped Italian parsely
Directions...whisk the egg and beer together...separately mix all the dry ingredients together...mix both and whisk thoroughly till completely smooth. Test adhesion with a wooden spoon...Too soupy? Add flour, adjust seasoning...Too thick, add a bit of fresh water, adjust seasoning...stir in parsley...coat the chicken (or whatever)...and drop into 375*F veg/canola/peanut oil. Remove to paper towels or paper bags and salt immediately.
Admittedly it's basic, but this recipe will never fail. Add stuff to the batter (such as Tabasco, Worcestershire, or Old Bay--for fish) that you like. Enjoy!

Last year, I won a 1 year supply worth of beer which was about 1200 cans, actually I had been planning to make sure it last for more than a year so as to speak, but they only lasted about 3 months somehow...
I was drinking like crazy and I almost forgot how does H2O taste like and was badly devastated when I started to count the few cans left...

Hey! Just because I'm American doesn't mean I don't know about foreign countries. I know were Singapore is. It's right out side of Winnipeg.
