I think someone forgot a step somewhere

It's hard to believe that someone would have enough sense to install an ac/furnace yet leave this. In particular, pay attention to where the new flue pipe is exhausting.

The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

ROFL That should be an add on option. Upsell them the ice damn/ snow melt system for an extra 200 bucks!

I don't know how long it's been like that. The furnace doesn't look like it's more than a couple of years old, but it's hard to say. I tried to get them to give me the name of the installer so I could have them come back out and fix it. She said she didn't remember. She's elderly, so it could be true. She's also on a fixed income. I need to find someone that will fix it and not charge a whole lot. It doesn't seem like it would be alot of work. The hole is already in the roof. It's just a matter of extending the flue up through the roof and sealing it. Am I right about that, or is there some hidden cost I don't see?

If that drain pipe was going down to an open floor drain or pump I see no need for a p-trap, but if they left the vent like that I’m sure they didn’t care too much about the drain either.
