I worked in Bagram Afghanistan for six months about two years ago. It sucked. You can make the same amount of money here if you worked the same hours. 84 hrs a week, it worked out to about 14 bucks an hour.
Oh and don't worry about the journeyman crap, they only need filter washers. Warm bodies they can bill the government for.
look up KBR on the web site. I applied online and about an hour later they hired me. This should have been the first sign. I then spend about a month in Houston waiting to processed out, not getting paid of course.

    Good luck.

If the overseas town has a "Chamber of Commerce", e-mail them.

If an organization is widely known to be corrupt the newspapers will refer to it as "controversial".

You could also Google the organization's name along with the exact phrase
    "class action"
    or
    whistleblower
    or
    lawsuit

Google will also translate pages from other languages (more or less).

I am not going to try to shine you away from it......however.....

The equipment over there sucks ass. Mainly mini-splits. All of em fallin apart.

Like said before, you will work your ass off....doesn't matter what time of day. If theres a unit down, your going....don't matter what time it is. There will be times I'm sure where to may have down time. But remember, you most likely will be low man on todom pole. So guess who gets to go out parts hunting all the time. Thats right, it would be you.

I remember the KBR reps coming to my shop all the time. I had 2 iso's full of parts and supplies. These isos remained locked with me having the only key. So when I was out on patrols and convoys, I would always return to the KBR guys sitting around waiting.

And if all that doesn't help, please remember that effective Jan. 20....we all know what happens. And he and his administration are already speaking of and starting to plan a full withdraw.

I aint no brainiac by no means but I am willing to bet that you don't want to be present for that. The work load will increase, the amount of firepower and protection will decrease and it will just suck!!!

    Good luck.
I fully support the military and the War on Terrorism.

If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.

If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

KBR called me several times this summer, after several weeks went by after the online process. When I saw how the election was turning out, I did not want to find myself there during a bug-out.

I feel that it was a good thing for me to make a decision to not go when the President is not going to be on my 6.

I would not work for Dyncorp under any circumstances.

Try not to make "blood" money.

The freedom we enjoy was purchased by blood, and our salvation was, as well.

    Unhappy Blood Money or not

Right now it doesn't matter if it is blood money, it would be a job most of all. Rather take good money in a war zone than to lose my house! This universal cert I got doesn't mean sqat when there are no jobs in southern alabama to be had so if I could get on with Dyncorp, I would. Just not getting the call. 30 years experience and backing up!

Ok, heres the deal. Why are you waiting on Dyn Corp? If you need the money call or email KBR.Now this is just a opinion. Dyn Corp is not going to call right now .If you research what is going on over here.Yes I am sitting in Afghanistan right now.We are in LOGCAP 3 until March 31.KBR has about 95% of the work.As far as trades and labor type work.Yes 3 other companies have bid on different parts of LOGCAP 4 but they will not be hiring until they absolutly are ready to put people to work. There is not alot of Motel 6's open to stockpile employees.KBR has had this contract extened so many times no one is jumping the gun , on the turn over dates. Now this is just rumor, but it does make since, if you are watching it unfold from the front row.The companies that get the contracts will more than likely hire the employees that have already jumped through all the hoopsto get here. They also have proven they can survive and stay over here. Good luck.
