Very likely the larger older unit died and the newer unit was just plugged into the old unit so as to not need a curb adaptor....

    Just a guess.

The older unit must be undersized.....

And the newer one is compensating

So what happens when 1 freezes up??? Will the other freeze up too??

If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.

If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea, prolly the older one died and someone didn't know about roof curbs, or the fact that someone didn't know how to sell a new unit to match the load of the building area the old one serves

    They don't.

I have seen the very same thing a few times, it's a guy who is making a pay check on the job. He's to afraid to do it right because the price will be to high and the customer will not go for it. He really needs that pay check.

Looks kind of like the makings of a Carrier Cobra unit. Either that or the other one got lonely.
If you didn't do it right the first time it probably makes sense that your here asking the right way to do it now
