Does your elect company offer any surge protectors?? In my area the elect company installs protector under the elect meter, about $6.00 a month charge.

Our neighborhood. They are not responsible for the quality of electricity, even it is an electrocution issue. Can't believe they will charge for a power line surge protector.

Had not thought of that... Yes Duke offers a surge protector, it runs $17/month, fairly pricy

    https://www.duke-energy.com/strikest...estop-faqs.asp

"StrikeStop is a meter-based surge arrestor that can be installed inside your existing electric meter. "

Looks like $14 a month for 12 months to purchase, and $3 month for a insurance policy on anything that is damaged if it fails to protect. "Exclusions and limitations apply."

$1500/per occurrence... that wouldn't cover much.

But it looks like after 12 months and $204 you own it free and clear.

found this install video on UTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsBDUfvrlDQ
