You should have been at the convention in Winston-Salem. Ain't saying who brought it. But man that was smooooth. Also had some with apple in it. It tasted like drinking mom's apple pie.

I think if you can get Southern Girl's attention I bet she could fix you up with a recipe.

Boy I grew up with had cousins that ran moon in NC. They had a 1964 Ford 4 speed with a 406 and three 2's. Yes, it was a new car. Big tank in the trunk - not for gas. They use to run the hills at night with no lights.

Anyway, they shared some with us and also how they made their own. They mixed it with grape juice and called it Purple Jesus. I had two glasses, I think, so pretty much all I ever learned was lost along with all the brain cells that got killed on that night. I think I had a lot of fun that night! They told me I did.

It is prefectly legal to make your owned distilled spirits.....I forget the amount...its a few gallons or so a year....

Probably some sites on the web for making whiskey and rum etc....

Its poison though....I wouldnt recommend drinking any sort of alcoholic beverage to anyone....

I have goten a few recipes from the net but most suck
I guess I am looking for some first hand opinions
so far it seems people like the fruit blends the best
I have had the grape ape (purple jesus) and the hard cider booth are fine but
I guess I am looking for something stiff and smooth at the same time.
Hard to do as a home brew

It's not legal to distill anywhere in the country in any amount. But you can make a 63 proof "beer" using a super high gravity yeast. I imagine if you age that for a year or so it won't taste too bad.

I think that with this the game is just see how much sugar you can ferment without getting the fermentation stuck. You're probably talking over $100 of malt per batch of 5 gallons. You can substitute corn sugar to 20% of the batch for some cost savings that will have little affect on flavor. You can go more than that but it won't be beer anymore.

I haven't played with this strain yet, though I would like to. In the end, it's fun to make this stuff as a hobby, but in the long run it's much cheaper to just go to the liquor store. You'll spend way more on ingredients, equipment and time making it yourself. But you will have the satisfaction of having done it yourself and getting the exact flavors you prefer. That's the reason I got into homebrew.

Not to mention the 4 or 6 quarts that come up for me and I run 5 gallons everytime.
Either you need to work on your design or you might want to try a different recipe
