Which Lube for Pneumatic Valve Stems?

There are a variety of 10 to 30 year old pneumatic valve stems in this Commercial Building. The Valve stems move up and down by pneumatic actuators, Springs and diaphrams.

What is best lube for pneumatic valve stems, in service for Chill Water, Steam, Heating Hot Water?

    Never Sieze?

    Petroleum Grease?

    20 Weight Motor Oil?

    WD 40?

    Penetrating, Rust Buster Oil?

    Silicone Spray Lube?

    Silicone paste lube?

    Something Else?

Some Pneumatic valves are Honeywell, some are Siemens. What material is in the Packing? What can help the packing last longer? Expand to stop drips? Loosen to free a stuck (Frozen) valve Stem?

I use a heavy silicone paste on my Siemens (Powers) valves. CWS & HWS, no steam.

I would assume that since you are talking about lube, you are planning on repacking these valves. I also assume that you are planning on converting to Chevron style packing on those valves that do not already have that type. I used to use a silicon based lube, that came in a green tube, but cannot remember the name right now. Most new packing kits come with this type of lube in a very small container.

    Silicone / Vasoline

Have always used silicone base lub in a tube and if in a pinch I would ask for the first aid kit and use vasoline.

Honeywell 2 Oz Tube, Valve Stem Lube, Part No 311057
Looked like Cranberry Jelly in the Honeywell Valve Repack kit I found.

Napa Auto Parts has Sil-Glyde, Part 765-1351, may not be the best for Valve Stems.

For Dow Corning 111 Silicone Valve Lubricant and Sealant -
Here is a link to find a Dow Corning Distributor:
