    I hear you loud & clear. I spend time myself wondering about the ill effects from some of the information we post on here when it gets in the wrong hands; ie, people without the proper experience.

    No doubt there have been times people have read something on this web site & went to work the next day claiming to have a "revelation" and now they know what to do to fix the problem. I'm sure there have also been occasions when someone has misapplied something read here only to compound the problem & likely cost someone some money.

    That being said, as we (pro's) help each other out from time to time, you have to wonder how much injustice we do when our posts are read by incompetant people.

    I know you guys are factory & I have no problem with that & I'm sure you know by now I'm independent (always have been) & I have no doubt that you don't have any problems with truly competant independents.

    For instance, a Trane tech may have plenty of information that he would like to gaurd for a variety of reasons. But, if your on a forum & someone in another part of the country needs help & you are confident that this person knows what he is doing, you would probably be inclined to help.

    There could be a day that you wind up in front of a Carrier machine & who knows, maybe one of the lowly independents could possibly be able to help you out. It would be no different than a Trane tech giving specific info to a McQuay tech that is working on a Trane chiller. Unless of course all of the factory guys on here have a problem with independents. But in all honesty, I would be suprised if that was the case.

    I know this has been kicked around before, but maybe its time we start another thread to see what kind of support we could scrounge up & really think about approaching the Moderators to consider a forum just for chillers mechanics. How would we determine elegibility? I'm not completely sure but, one thing that comes to mind is maybe there could be a committee that could vote on membership requests. Or, we band together & come up with a reasonable list of requirements that mods would ask people to produce when they request clearance for the "chiller" forum.

    Maybe we would even want to consider operators participation if they have the appropiate skill sets. Now, before any of the competant operators get offended, I'm not talking about excluding you. I'm talking about excluding the guys that don't approach from delta T.

    Another idea is that apprentices could possibly join if a member in their area recommends them.

    I suppose this could be a pipe dream. But, if anyone thinks its a good idea, lets start another thread & see where it goes. If we get enough support, maybe the Mods would consider it.

    One more thing, I know one of you guys can tell us whats on that news letter. C'mon, share a little gossip. (unles it really is boring)

    It just says to use CTV MP Ver 10.0 instead of 10.02 due to some bug.

    Pretty cool huh.

    I overhauled a sidewinder in Prince George with the Jer and did the controls upgrades on the chillers at the university.

    I will guess the sidewinder you refer to is the canada trust building with good ol Bob as the operator. I think thats the only one. What University the college of new cal or UNBC cause if its the latter thats where I was having my problem hauled that old absorber out of there a few years ago and put in 2 CVHF 910's. Time for another retro fit on the controls at new cal I think it will soon be CH 531 happening in there. Lots of machines up here are needing to be upgraded I think we are going to overhaul the PCV at the hospital just waiting for a PO. I think I will be spending a lot of time up here over the winter.

    Yes, it was the bank and the upgrade was the PCM's on UNBC.

    I think those are the ones at Caledonia one has a pcm the other a upcm and that is what I am trying to get authorization to rip out and put CH530's in. Nice work though they have never given me grief and I like how they weren't configured to only allow the chiller to run at 90% like a number of the other ones were done by someone we both know.
