I have a question for you: Have you had a mis-matched system installed on your home? And lived with it? And paid the electric bill for it? If not, please do not be so quick to play king of the tech hill.
Yeah, sure, it will run and cool. But a mis-matched system with a smaller coil will be LESS than the SEER rating of the coil, and it will use WAAAY too much electricity.
And my product line will not warrant the equipment if it is installed in a mis-matched manor.
So you see, if it were me I would call that un-acceptable performance. And for me, if it is not a proper and acceptable installation... it does not work PROPERLY. And as such, if it does not perform as the manufacturer built it to, then it does not work.
Around my area, someone that would consciously do a mis-matched installation is generally called a hack...
If you want to mislead someone, that is your business. But as I said earlier: I have lived with each of these combinations on my home. I KNOW what happens.
