I let Baldloonie down
With my three days at Comfortech such a positive experience, I am not going to dwell on a negative on Saturday morning too much, but it did cause me to inconvenience Baldloonie for such a stupid reason.
Baldy had an earlier flight then I did, so to make sure I got up and out early enough to drive around Atlanta a bit, I told Baldy I would run him to the airport and that would give me some drive time around Atlanta.
Well, I was in the rental car at the parking lot across from the hotel at 8:10. Baldy was four blocks away. The lot exit machine would not accept my ticket which was stamped by the hotel as being paid.
I called the hotel and they told me to bring it back to be restamped. I did, they did. Went back to the parking garage. The exit machine this time accepted the stamped and paid ticket, thanked me for parking there, issued ma a paid receipt and then did NOTHING!
The barrier arm would not raise up to let me out. After several calls to a very heavily accented somebody (let's refer to him as Achmed) on the other end of the call system, I realized that no one was going to rescue me. It went something like this;
Me: I paid to get out and the gate won't open
Achmed: You must put ticket in slot
Me: I did that and paid. It just won't let me out.
Achmed: You need to pay first.
Me: I did pay. It even gave me a receipt.
Achmed: You must push button to get receipt.
Me: I have the receitpt. It just won't let me out.
Achmed: The receipt is in the slot marked for receipt.
Me: I HAVE THE RECEIPT! I HAVE PAID AND HAVE A RECEIPT!
Achmed: Oh....and you cannot exit?
Me; Correct. It will not let me out.
Achmed: I will open for you.
Silence. Two minutes pass. Nothing happens. I call again.
Me: I still cannot get out
Achmed: The gate did not open?
Me: No, the gate did not open, I need to get out
Achmed: I will open for you.
Baldy on Nextel: You lost?
Me: No, I'm trapped in the parking garage.
Baldy: I'm running out of time. I'm going to catch a cab.
Me: The guy is supposed to be getting me out of here. I should be there soon.
Two more minutes pass. Nothing happens. I call again
Achmed: You still not to get out?
Me: NO! I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!
Achmed: I come to open gate.
Five minutes pass. Nothing happens, no one comes. I call again
Recording: Thank you for calling ******Parking, the message box for this location is full and cannot receive messages.
Five more minutes. I tell people coming in what is going on. We try to get the in barrier to raise by pushing the button for a ticket so I can escape through the in driveway. Won't work without a car in the driveway.
Baldy: Robin, I'm gonna take a cab that is here at the hotel.
Me: (now very embarrassed and getting really pissed) Understand. Really sorry. Have a good trip home.
I try the call button several more times, same message. No Achmed. There are camera's all over this exit with signs telling you how much you are being monitored so I am showing the camera's how frustrated I am.
That's it! I grab the barrier and start jacking it up until the bolts on the arm bust through the wood. Get it to the point where it is flopping up and down but I can lift it above the top of the SUV. Pull the SUV into the barrier until I get it lifted to the windshield then reach out and yank it over the roof. I'M FREE!
So, if they decide to press charges I think I have a good case of holding me against my will

Im glad it was you
I would have ram the****ing gate and the **shole on the other line. I get so mad when these people can't even understand a simple statement and companies put them in a customers service position. You have more patients than me. I just bought new wireless router and could not get it working so I phone customer support in some place where english is there second language. So I listen very hard on how to set this up and did exactly what she said and still does not work, I tell her it is not working and she hangs up, so I phone back now I have to repeat all information to different person and walks me through the same proceedure after telling them I have already done with no success, they don't even listen and so I keep following same thing happens and this lady says phone back if it doesn't work, I told why I can tell right now it is not working, she hangs up. So I phoned back a third time and said get me someone who speaks english or a manager, so they transfered me to the U.S and I asked to speak to manager, voiced my displeasure and got everything fixed. Very Fustrating
Do it right the first time.

I had thoughts of both 21degrees. If I had had my Dodge Dakota, I would have just rammed the gate for sure, but I had a rental and would have been responsible for it's damage. The misfit on the other end of the line never showed and wouldn't answer the phone any more so there was no way to vent on him either.
My patience is directly related to the level of the anti-psychotic medication I take

Well, the CCTV will clearly show the license plate on my rental, my face, me holding the paid receipt and me giving it the one finger salute just before attacking the gate. If they want me, I won't be hard to find. Not to mention that my fingerprints inbedded are all over that gate.
As for Jesus; those are times when we block out Jesus and make decisions based on material world input. I'm sure that had I opened myself to Jesus I would not have become so angry.Government is a disease......masquerading as its own cure…Ecclesiastes 10:2 NIV

I got a cab with some African or Middle Eastern driver with a lead foot. I made it just fine.
Bob, your cab partner say where he worked up here?

You didnot take out extra Insurance For Damage
[QUOTE=RoBoTeq;1990260]I had thoughts of both 21degrees. If I had had my Dodge Dakota, I would have just rammed the gate for sure, but I had a rental and would have been responsible for it's damage. I usually get extra insurance and take their vehicle 4 x 4 ing and have some fun.
Last time I rented a truck locally due to accident, I took at short cut through a snow bank and ripped bumper off when trying to get out. Had my guys fix it and was never charged any damage.
Do it right the first time.

I'm more the kind of jackass who wants a confrontation when this sort of thing occurs. Even though it does not always come out in my favor, if someone wants to push an issue like this, I want my day in court. It is ridiculous that a parking garage is so completely automated that they have no one at all on the premises for things such as happened to me.
