I've also been working with NOVAR for over 8 years and mostly on national accounts stuff and if there was a way around the pik I wouldn't have it in my bag.

I remember
A while back there was a guy posting here that said he didn't need the Novar PIK (dongle, software key, hardware key whatever you call it) because he had edited the Novar startup .BAT file. Now I do find that a little hard to believe.

I talked with him and the explanation sounded bogus.
Something like adding SET="nostinkingPIC" in the bat file.

You can add my 10+ years also.
Good luck and I doubt you will get by it.
Find one on ebay.

Found the email.
"The code to bypass the pik is: set_crypto_no_stinking_dongle. I think you have to run it as a batch file. I know for sure this is the correct code is just don't know how to implement it. A guy who used to work at Novar, (no longer does) showed me this quite a while ago when I was just getting into the controls biz. I didn't pay any attention at the time, because I had a PIK and wasn't too concerned with getting another one at the time. "
Let me know if it works.

We dont need no stinking Pik?
From the post I have read so far this really seems like a nerdy legend but if not I sure could use the info needed to get past this PIK and look into some things. If any of you guys can shed some light on this I think everyone in this thread could rest a little easier knowing the truth is out there......
