The old Safari/Astro was hard to beat for a service truck. Nice ride, good luck on the fuel bill !
My old service truck finally gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago so I started looking for a new one. This is what I got.
It's a gas 5.4L which is getting me 21L/100km (11.2 mpg) city as compared to my old Astro which was getting 20L/100km (11.8mpg).
I average 18,000 miles a year which isn't enough to spend the extra $8,000 on the 6.4L Diesel.
There is 4' x 7' of space between the shelves with my cylinder rack in place.
The dog house is 44" deep which leaves tons of space to store things.
Free standing height inside is around 6'2".
I still haven't decided if I will put a side mounted rack for the extension ladder or the hydraulic assisted one that goes on the roof and flips down to the side.

Very very nice truck,,,
I will spare you the "how do you pay to fill up with Quebec gas prices at $1.39 a litre (US$5.16 a gallon)" comments... But I guess you got to spend money to make money.
Looks good.It should give you alot of years of great service
Did you think about getting a Sprinter? Or did that beat the Sprinter for what you want in a truck.
Thanks,
I was anticipating an extra 20L or 5 gal a week extra in gas compared to the Astro.
So far it seems like my fuel economy is exactly where I thought it would be.
The amount of room in this truck will save us quite a bit of money in different ways such as not needing to make multiple trips to our supplier for filter change runs.
We also no longer need a conventional pickup truck to carry around large HP's.
As far as the Dodge Sprinter it was the first thing we thought of purchasing but there were no deals to be had.
The base price of the Sprinter here in Canada is $47,000 which put the truck at $1,000 per month.
We walked out the door with this well optioned XLT with a $6,000 box and side shelves already installed for $599 a month.
The big plus with a pickup is that you are isolated from the cargo compartment so you're not listening to everything moving around behind you.
Dowadudda is gonna crap when he see's these pics. A cap like that is his dream!
That is a much more cooler ride though. Espacially since in your spare time you can take the box off put some 20's on it and.............never mind.
You should of considered come to the states while the Canadian dollar is stronger and buying it here we need your money and they are dying to sell trucks down here.
That's a good looking truck! I think it's a much better choice than a Dodge Sprinter. Much better looking too!
Did the box come with the shelves?who makes the box?nice option!
That looks like a real alternative to a Sprinter.

I got to see it in real life to know if i really like it. The one thing i like about the sprinter is the possibility of turning it into a workshop to a degree.
First pic has an extension ladder, don't see it on the new ride...no more rooftops?
Most of my customers buildings have fixed roof access since they have natural gas so I'm not really in a rush to get the ladder racks.
I was ataking my time deciding on which ladder carrying system I wanted to go with.
I'll post pics with racks installed as soon as they're on.
I'm installing an 8' step ladder rack and an extension ladder rack like the ones pictured here.
