ICM makes a control that can vary the speed of your blower, so that you can use a 2 stage A/C on that furnace.
Not as good as a VS motor. But it works.
Your contractor may not know about it.
Thanks for reply, but can you tell me more about this control.thanks
It uses temp sensors to determine how fast to run the blower.
In cooling, it slows the blower to maintain the temp the tech sets.
In first stage, it will slow theblower until the discharge air temp is at set point.
Then when the A/C goes to second stage, it will increase the blowers speed as the air gets colder.(up to the motors rated speed)
It simply regulates blower speed by temp.
A VS blower regulates its speed based on static pressure/torque, to move the CFM its set for.

Didn't Nordyne try to pass off a unit that reached 13 SEER with a variable speed blower, only to have it rejected, because units have to be rated with a standard blower?
