Hi Guys,
Is it possible to find out the tonnage of the AC from the compressor?
Yes, it is. Can you not use the info on the unit itself?
Yes. Take the first two numbers in the model # and divide by 18 while touching your nose with the index finger of your left hand and saying "rubber baby buggy bumpers" as fast as you can.
Then call a qualified service organization.
If the techs don't know they didn't try.If I can't tell I have plenty of phone #'s to different supply houses and dealers.
The BTU capacity of the compressor may or may not give you the nominal tonnage of the unit.
Ok.
If the compressor is 22,500 BTUs. And the evap coil is 30,000 BTUs.
What size A/C is it?
I think I have it
22,500/ 18= 1250 tons is that right?
Knowledge comes with experience
LOL...
Dang, I was trying to get something for nothing.
I was thinking that would make it a 13 SEER?
I'd measure. But not any of the things you said.
Nope.
Its probably old enough, its time for a new unit. I'd go into salesman mode.
Which means I'd be measuring up the house, for a new system.
If I can't read the model number and blower rating of the furnace. Its time for a new furnace too.
Ok, Some people won't spring for a new furnace at the same time.
But I have never seen a furnace with a 2 ton blower. Minimum around here is 3 tons.
So I'd be safe that it has a 3 ton drive.
I might measure the blower, if I didn't reconize the brand.
ya got me.
