    Fan / Compressor Wonkiness

    Hey Gang,

HVAC guy cancelled this evening and put me on first call tomorrow morning. Any idea why, when my stat calls for cool, the fan comes on and blows 10-12 minutes before the compressor kicks over?

Could be quite a few answers to that question, but with the info provided it is not possible to answer and even think that it would be close.

Hopefully you will find out in the morning.

Turned out to be the board on the heat pump outside. My HVAC guy spoke w/ a Ruud tech rep about my issues as well. Ruud tech advised setting the CPH at 2 before he even heard about the short cycling issue I had.

Plus, my tech took a look at the load calc done on the house; since I have a walkout basement the calc took finishing the basement into consideration. My model home w/ no walkout comes w/ a 3 ton system - walkouts come with a 3.5 ton system and a 4 ton blower.

So we tuned the duct that was in my closet back on and also took a duct and had it empty into the basement.

I'm running much better now, and I'm a happy camper so far !
