    Not much in stock anymore.

Worked on a heat pump the other day that had a leak. Found two leaks
brazed one leak, and found the accumulator also leaking.

I called 6 or 7 supply houses, and none of them had one in stock. I was
even willing to oversize if needed. Everyone would have to have one
    shipped in.

Needless to say, one is on order.

If 10,000 people don't need it, it is not in stock......

Cost to much to keep stuff on the shelf. You see it more and more every day. That sir is the sad truth.

I've had the same problem. Especially with oil burner and hydronics parts but yeah even refrigeration and electrical parts that used to be common place.

An acculumator used to cost about XX now it's XXX though because of the poor handling of our government for at least the last 24 years

Around the time of the recession, about 7 years ago, after Obama came into office, a HUGE tax law passed through the system. If a supply house stocks something they need to pass the sales tax on regardless of whether it's sold or not. If it's kept at the plant/distribution center, the law didn't apply. If the item wasn't sold by the end of the tax year those taxes would be returned. (I'm pretty fuzzy on the law & never researched it much but was given the same answer from several companies, they passed the buck pretty quickly)

A lot of companies started to keep things at the manufacturing plant, especially obscure or unpopular parts. Contractors, relays, thermostats, etc. were kept on hand but things that would only be ordered once in awhile were kept in the main factory/ distribution center to avoid these taxes. So, needless to say it's our government screwing us over once again. Accumulators are also a rare item nowadays as compensators are being used instead. They're smaller & more efficient than accumulators from what I've been told.

Sad part is,I usually only need the obscure parts and then They want to 'Ship' it TO You and you get the shipping 'bill'.

Yeah depending on state they charge sales tax on shipping because it's a service. Most companies just figure it in to the shipping costs. Unless they ship for free and then they need to charge an excise tax.

I'm in NYS. So that answers my tax situation. Some suppliers charge charge me sales tax some don't. And better yet NO ONE can answer me. Shipping and freight is something that has become unreal too over the last few years.

We may end up all having to move to Texas and seceding the union then we can annex Mexico and South Carolina and build a bridge with helicopters over United communist states of America.

I think we can leave Mexico out. They've got enough corruption going on. South Carolina might be ok, but so many NY'ERS are moving there & changing laws it's getting out of hand. Something up & down the East Coast.

Mexico has nice beaches though... We can ship the cartels/thugs to the UCSA. Hillary will welcome then with open arms.

That's true. She'll probably strike up some NAFTA trade deal & give them free boats to ship their product. Mexico has amazing beaches but it also has Juarez. It went could take Acapulco & leave the rest, I'm good, lol.
