I have an old McQuay EA model PTAC in my condo. It has a non-standard sleeve size (16 3/8" by 44 7/8"), and it is ducted into two other bedrooms.

The new McQuay PTAC to replace it has a new design with a tangential blower fan. The GE PTAC literature indicates that the 5800 series, which also has a tangential fan, is not acceptable for a ducted use. The contractors that I have spoken to about replacing my old McQuay with the new McQuay PTAC say that it is not a problem.

Anyone have an opinion on who is right?

If the new tangential blower does not make enough pressure, would register fans in the other two rooms or some kind of inline duct fan make it acceptable to use?
