We have a ng stove, one that looks like a wood burner. Its pilot has four flames and I think we calculated that it uses something like 6 ccf a month.

    Cool

A typical single flame thermocouple burns about 600-800 BTU/hr/ A millivolt valve using a thermopile uses a pilot that burns about 1,200 BTU/hr. A ventfree ODS pilot uses about 1,600 BTU/hr.
    one therm=100,000 BTU/hr

Off for the summer. There's something in the directions about shutting it off for extended periods of non use. Also saves some $$.

Ours is a direct vent model, the directions recommended shutting off. I'll check to see if they gave a specific reason; I can't remember off the top of my head.

Is yours ventless? -- Maybe the process is different b/c moisture has nowhere to go?
