Wart...
Sorry to hear of all your misfortune. If I were you, I would speak with a lawyer. Have papers served. If you show the company that you are done with this and mean business, they may take you more seriously.
There are a lot of people that threaten to sue etc.etc... But few actually follow through with it. So businesses are reluctant to give everyone what they want right from the get go. But if papers are served, might change their minds in a quick hurry.
You need to act on it now. Don't let this fester too much longer. And get yourself a new system installed properly. And go higher efficiency.I fully support the military and the War on Terrorism.
If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.
If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

Thanks guys. I am not litigious by nature (but rather soft-hearted), but I gotta tell you! Being treated so shabbily by this contractor has driven me to it. I do have a former co-worker who is a practicing Harvard Law grad. I guess it's time to call him...

Ack! My family starves as I type. I'll provide another (hopefully happier) update as events warrant!
