Freezestat on split systems
Does anyone have experience with the Honeywell FPC or similar Supco SFPC Freezestats? They just attach to the suction line at the evaporator and open the circuit to the compressor when the line temperature is 35°.
Are they worth the extra expense?

why do you feel you need a freeze stat?
if the system is set-up and ran correctly, you should not need a freeze stat!

One of my earlier systems had the blower fan go inop and the evap coil froze over. Then, when it melted, it deposited lots of water,- I think causing my furnace to later get rusty, Also, to protect the comp.
