    Definitions Please

Being a non-hvac type and having used/searched several definition sites in hopes of gaining a better understanding of terms used on this board and still being somewhat confused with a couple, maybe ya'll will take mercy on this ole man and his feeble brain and help me out.
    1) What does "short cycling" mean and or refer too (furnace use... a/c cooling use)?
    2) What then would be considered "good cycle" times?
    3) Return airflow... is that the air that goes into the register from the interior of the house that then goes through the filter to be heated/cooled and recirculated through the house via the ducts?
    4) Supply Airflow is what?
Thanks for this site and the time ya'll take to answer questions, share opinions, and explain your profession to us "civilians" (so to speak).

5 minutes on 5 minutes off would be short cycling.

1 on time and 1 off time is a cycle. So a cycle time that would be around 3 cycles per hour.

Yes, as it implies, teh air draw back to your unit.

    4) Supply Airflow is what?

The air that is blown into teh occupied areas.
