    I have several of both, the Stinger and the Promax units. I have had both units fail and have found the Stinger to be MUCH cheaper and easier to repair.

    Thank you to all who provided input on this thread. I decided to get the Stinger even though I did like the Appion unit much more in terms of performance. The main reason was the longer over the counter warranty period and the lower cost of repairs. I would use the unit sporadically at best, so the likelihood of identifying a problem and not resolving it in the first ninety days was a concern to me. I do think that if ever I did get a second recovery unit it clearly would be the Appion G5 Twin.
