Will a hybrid heat system save energy in NJ

I live in central NJ and looking for a heat and ac replacement. Have forced air and separate ducts for central ac.
Will a hybrid heat system with 80% furnace save energy money vs a 95% two stage variable furnance and ac?

last time i actually ran the #s heat pump was quite a bit more efficient.

heat pump with multi stage v drive 90+ furnace would be the hot setup.

Our electricity rates WNY are around $0.15/kWh. Even with those, looking at our natural gas rates and the performance data for the Trane XL16i, which is what I happen to have, the heat pump is FAR more efficient for your $, especially in the 30's - 40's. (It keeps an edge far lower than that, but if it's sized correctly for AC it's unlikely you'd get enough heat out of it at OD temps any lower...)

And yes, before anyone else says it, for many people the XL16i may be a bad choice for heat pump performance, since it's heat output is weak. I wanted a two-stage AC, and that was more important to me than the heat output, especially since it's combined with an XV95, and my house isn't all that expensive to heat to begin with.

i actually installed that setup about 2 months ago lennox g61 and a xp21 with comfort sense stat. that is a sweet setup xp21. 4ton is a huge unit though

yea Dave's givvin us to many models, makes it tough to keep track of them..

pretty sure the year we started with lennox there was 1 or 2 models to choose from in the residential line. hs13 or hs14....

I'm in Camden Cnty. My rates are: .17 pr kwh (PSE&G); about $1.50 per therm (So Jersey Gas).

You have 2 duct systems?

I have 1 heat duct for whole house for the forced air. Have another separate one for central air in the attic.

Your duct system for the furnace has to be checked to see if its bug enough for an HP,A/C.
But a hybird can he and cool you house.
