Freezing between accumulator & compressor

I recently watched a new Gibson Heatpump Ice up the line between the accumulator and compressor on start up in the cooling mode and the Ice increased for a short while and then began to slowly melt away. Never seen this on a unit before. Any ideas ? new to Gibson.

Yep. On any new start up, as long as sparks aren't flying or smoke isn't coming out, it takes a few minutes for the system to get settled out including the refrigerant and oil.

Lets see.
The unit was delivered to a supply house by a truck driving 60 plus miles anhour. Taking turns, sudden stops.
Yep, no way can oil get out of the compressor and into the accumilator. Bad unit, return it.

So let me see if I understand this....... the only way it would do what explained is if oil and refrigerant were in the accumulator upon start up. And following this train of thought........ there is no possible way that this could happen under normal circumstances. So the conclusion is that the unit was bad out of the box and should be returned to the supplier?

I guess having worked inside at a supplier and having people return equipment due to thier inability to diagnose the simplest of things has made me that way.
