Which Coil for this equipment?

Can someone tell me what is the right Lennox coil for this equipment (or if there is more than one which will work, which one is better and why)? Also, is there any specfic air filter you would recommend. Thank you.

Lennox XC15-030 2-1/2 ton 15 SEER A/C

Have the contractor that you choose provide you with the correct ARI certificate number.

There are most likely multiple choices for your equipment, and since you have variable speed equipment all three items must be matched.

I would look it up but I have 10,000 things to do right now.

C33-43 with a G61MPV-36C-090 is rated at 15.20 SEER Cert # 1329808

C33-31 with a G60UHV-36B-070 is rated at 15.20 SEER ARI cert # 1329596.

Both of them need TXV's etc...........I just did the quickest search

The blowers have to match. A G61MPV-60C-090 might use a different combo..........I did not check for that!

And if that second story unit is being installed horizontal in an attic, well that's a different coil again.

Bob is a Dave Lennox premier dealer, so he's the one to ask about your Lennox equipment. However, from his response, I got the inclination from his response that you needed the TXV separately. The C33 from the factory has an orifice metering device, and the TXV is an option. The CX34 has a TXV factory installed. My info comes from Lennox's engineering data for both coils. So it looks like either coil could be made to work. What did the contractor who quoted the C33 say about the TXV?

I think you have a good idea of what to ask now... thermostat (IAQ possibility), coil (TXV), and filter (one ontractor didn't specify any). Good luck with the new system.

Yea anything with x in the mod.# is 410a on lennox and has to have a txv.

Correct, the TXV is field installed with the C33 coil.

We need the blower size on the G61MPV also, that makes a difference if it's a 36 or a 60.

Is the G60UHV up stairs a horizontal?

I do not see a C33-38 or a CX34-38 for a 90K btuh furnace match, only 70K, so there must be a mistake.

There is no CX33, it's C33 or CX34 so you need to clarify.

ARI 3007821 gives you 15.50 SEER with a G60UHV-36B-070, a C33-38 with a TXV and a XC15, so that one works.

ARI 3007978 is the same using a CX34 so that's a match.

You also need to clarify weather horizontal or upflow, you said it's both and in a closet, so I suspect upflow!

What I meant is the upstairs unit is in a narrow closet and the ductwork goes up into the attic. I thought this meant "up-flow"? Sorry for any confusion.
