    Here's Our Quote Company "A"

    American Standard
    Heritage 16 SEER
    4A6H60484
    48,000 capacity

    Air Handler(S)

    2/4TEE3D49 4.0T (VS) R-410 A
    49,000 capacity

    or

    2/4TEE3C49 4.0T (SS) R-410 A
    49,000 capacity

    ACONT8027-Day Digital Programmable 3 Heat / 2 Cool T-stat

    Dual Fuel Furnace-
    AUX2B100AFV3VA 4T 60,000 ST 1
    93,000 ST 2

    Amana
    ASZ18 0601A Heat Pump 4 Ton

    57,000 Capacity

    AEPF426016 Air Handler (VS, mult-position) R-410A

    AMH95 0905DXA Duel Fuel

The 18 SEER Amana is a SLIGHT bump in price over the 16 SEER

The 16 SEER American Standard is a huge bump up in $$ over the 18 SEER Amana and gargantuan bump up over the 16 SEER Amana

No mention of T-stat for Amana

New Duct work (except for trunk)
    Extra Return (total of 2)
    Extra Supplies
    Larger Pad (if needed)

    Full Warranty

Now company "A" is the company that's been servicing our HVAC this year and fixed the installers' screw ups. Trusted, reliable, and BBB certified

Comments, thoughts, advice would be appreciated

We will be taking other quotes later, but for now this will suffice.

Ask them for the Honeywell IAQ thermostat.

One of the things I should have done when I had mine installed.

The A/S16 will require you to switch to gas heat sooner the the Amana's or the A/S18
The TCON802 nor 803, can't control 2 stages of gas heat when used as a dual fuel thermostat.

I'm really hoping to do away w/fossil fuel heat and simply rely on the heat pump and our back gas logs. I'm guessing if that is a main concern, I'll need to go w/the Amana 18 SEER

You would still want an aux heat sourse in the HP for defrost.
The Trane, A/S 16 SEER 2 stage HPs have lower BTU capacitiy at lower temps then virtually any other 2 stage.

    You are correct.
It means your aux heat must come on sooner, and for longer periods of time. Saving you less money.

is only evident w/Trane/American Standard 16 SEERS?

I simply can't afford the next step up in AS/Trane products.

    Yep, just their 16 bites.
The Trane, A/S 15 SEER has a much better heat output then the 16i.
At 17*F OD temp, it can be as much as a 10,000 BTU difference depending on coil match ups.

Been, on paper the Amana 18 SEER looks hard to beat

in conjunction w/the VS air handler. Would you recommend the furnace our tech put on the estimate or a different one. Winter is kinda lame in Elvis Country.

The AMH, is a multispeed blower. Not a good choise for a 2 stage HP.
If you get a 2 stage HP, you need a VS to take full advantage of humidity control.
