New York City splits
hvac contractor working in Nyc, mostly between 5th ave and park ave $$$$. Have found almost all equipment to be National Comfort products or Aerosys thru wall condensing systems. Compressers short lived over here due to winter-time opereation and other factors. Wondering if any brands like carrier or trane made equipment like this. Not really crazy about ncp and aerosys

Trane or Carrier compressors won't last any longer.
How about putting low ambient kits on them for winter time operation.

added crankcase heaters, low ambient fan controls, bypass timers, hi-lo pressure switches, time delays, the works. After one month of use both the ncps and aerosys systems rattle like they are twenty years in use. Not reallly crazy about their craftsmanship, kind of chincy

Got a bunch of the NCPs, and Goodman thru the walls in places.
if the old 1/4 and 5/16" line set is used, it causes trouble with operation in low ambients.
And if the old coil is reused, it also causes some trouble.
I generally use the ICM head control, instead of an on off controller. Compressors seem to do better with the fan running then with on off fan cycling. With on off, you can still get some liquid back to the comprressor with the rapid cool down that occurs.
