Its 4 tons nominal.
Don't know where your going to find a 10 SEER condenser to match to it.
Noe does that tell you that the OD unit is a 4 ton.

Nor will he get 4 tons of cooling.
So he will be in effect, paying for more then he gets.
He won't get 13 SEER. He won't get 4 tons of cooling. He won't get compressor warranty.

hmmm..
valid point taken...
I understand the seer effect. Why not 4 tons of cooling? Ive done this install in the past. Seems to work okay. And yes, the cond. mfgr doesn't know about the mismatch for the comp. warranty. I will be okay.

Your ok untill they ask for the mod and serial of the indoor coil. Then you get to eat teh cost yourself, not the customer.
Because the new condenser has a smaller compressor. And it relies on a larger coil surface then the old condensers did.
Houses that have oversized A/Cs to begin with get away with it. Houses with border line size don't.
Do you tell your customers that your not putting in a 13 SEER match. Or do you mislead them into thinking they have a 13 SEER system?
Do you tell them that the manufacturer won't stand behind the unit, or mislead them to think they have a manufacturers compressor warranty?
With the exception of apartment complexs.
I find that customers are willing to pay for a new indoor coil to get the better efficiency, and teh manufacturers warranty. And I get ot make more money on the same job.

failed to mention...
This install is actually a favor for my father-in-law. Im not misleading him, he knows about the wtty & seer issue. even if this was one of my customers, I would push for them to change the inside unit to get 13seer effect, and mgfr wtty including my 1 yr wtty. I appreciate your help today. You're a good guy!
