Nah its an optical illusion because of the falling insulation on the suction line.

But the bad news is, after putting a new run cap the compressor died about 24 hours later, it appears to be the original one.

Who assumes responsibility (you or complex management) to replace the compressor/unit/system in your situation? Just curious. That's too bad the compressor died, but I think, if it was the original, it did its time!

The complex does, and the one smart thing anyone did was to put the apt. number on the units.

Gotta love it when you're paying to cool someone else's apartment too. Best is when they've connected the thermostats to the wrong units outside as well.

Well here is the replacement, at least they cut the lineset down some and installed a disconnect.
