    Trane heat pump/ a/c unit--odd noise

    My heat pump/ ac unit, trane model 14i, makes a loud stacco-like noise for about 5 seconds, when it kicks on. It doesn't do this everytime, but sporadically.

    It makes 4 or 5 loud bam-bam-bam-bam in quick succession, then runs normally.

    Is there some valve that is sticking at start up?

    Call your preferred HVAC professional. Could be warranty if under 5 years old
