Old Lennox Wiring Diagrams - where to find?

My church has an old Lennox HP17-953 heat pump split system that the wiring diagram is missing from. It has a two speed compressor that someone in the past has pulled and taped off the coil wire on one of the two compressor contactors.

When I reconnect the coil wire it runs for about 30 seconds before something trips it off. A wiring diagram would be great but of course it is long gone. Lennox website has the Engineering Data but no internal wiring diagrams.

Does anyone have a resource for old diagrams?

    Wiring diagrams

Hi, from what I read in your description of the situation, it sounds like someone found a problem with one of the compressors and wanted to keep it from operating. I would expect that the problem is not because the wiring was modified but that it is something they could not easily correct with the system such as a damaged compressor or starting components. I think that some big compressors have two contactors to get them started.

This site's rules prohibit us from helping you until you are known here. Since this site is for professionals you need at least 15 posts and apply for professional status.

I know this doesn't help you now, but when you gain professional status you will find the people here very helpful.

Please stick around and let the power to be here get to know you. Any help offered now will probably be deleted.

Hi Mr. milkman, I cannot tell if your message is for both of us or me. I am only a regular member. I look at the bottom of the page to see if I am allowed to post any comments. I was trying to be helpful. I try to use this forum to learn things that will help me in my job which involves maintaining equipment related to hvacr at a care and residential facility. We have chillers, ice machines, window units, through the wall units and hot water as well as steam heating systems. I need to consult with people on many topics. Much of this site is only available to professionals. I am not at the the level of people who go out on service calls all day long but I have learned a lot in twenty years of dealing with this equipment but always need to learn more. How can I get to the professional status or access portions that will really provide more insights? I have been trying to find out how to deal with a GE heat pump that is about 20 years old and I got one response. I went to a trade school for heating and air conditioning a long time ago but they really cover just general situations. I think that you responded to questions I had awhile ago. thank you

I have had some difficulty myself in locating old Lennox diagrams.

You might ask if someone in the congregation works in HVAC, and ask them to bird dog these for you.

My original post was to simply find out if anyone knew of a source for old Lennox wiring diagrams. After I did not receive any responses I contacted Lennox directly and received a FAX so small I need a big magnifying glass to read. So yes if you have another source, it would be appreciated.

As far as professional staus is concerned I find the rules for admittance amusing. You are telling me that after I respond to 15 other posts, whether they are about Sarah Palin or Football then I will be recoginzed?

I started in the refrigeration business in 1976 after graduating from college for Air Conditioning Technology after which I served an apprenticeship as an HVACR service technician with the local union. From 1983 -1990 I was the service manager for a shop with 20 techs until I moved into application engineering. Anyhow I could go on, but my point is not to brag but mearly question the criteria to find out if someone is truly a Professional.

Same here. I still don't think I am a pro member.

E-mail me your e-mail as your listed e-mail got returned as undeliverable.
