Nope. The new copper lines aren't made any thinker then the copper lines of 20 years ago.
And the copper tubing in the coils is made thinner then it was 20 years ago.

Would anyone be able to get me the wall thickness of your refrigeration pipe?
Over here our refrigeration pipe is as an example:-
7/8" pipe
R22 pipe = 0.91 mm wall
R410A pipe = 1.40 mm wall
11/8" pipe
R22 pipe = 0.91 mm wall
R410A pipe = 1.83 mm wall (twice as thick)
Cheers!

I would say Change if reasonable (no major Walls/damage/etc)
If not RX11 flush , N2 Purge / triple Vac
And change dryer after 48 to 72 hours
I Don't see the Problem here (unless it voids your warrenty)

One thing that has changed about copper lines is that they are now mixed with some alloys that make them a little less flexible and more prone to kink. I have noticed that they also take more heat to solder together and that they wont take a lot of vibration to make stress fractures. One plus side is that they can rub against something longer because of what they are made out of!
