Question about York Affinity PV9 series
Just got a new York 94% efficiency furnace with variable speed ECM motor. When the blower motor starts, it makes a bumping noise / vibration for about 5 seconds, rattling the ducts even. York contractor says all ECM motors do this on start. Can anyone experienced with these motors tell me if it is normal? Many thanks...

The ECM is checking its self for correct rotation. Its common for all ECM blowers to do it.
If your ductwork is metal, he should have used a flex connector to isolate the furnace/AC coil from the duct.
