Direct vent exhaust to inside corner loacation ?

when reading the manual that came with my furnace it says, "location of vent to inside corner,6" min, recomend 10" from corner"

Is this right ?? My vent goes out the back of my house facing South with 2" PVC and a 45 pointing down. It is about 38" away from an inside corner that is my Florida room wall.

In other words the vent comes out the garage wall siding and perpindicular to the garage wall is my Florida room wall that sticks out 12ft.

So if you measured from the inside of the corner that the Florida room creates where it comes off the main house wall the vent is about 38" away from that corner.


Again acording to my manual it can be as close as 6" is that right ????


Also it is only like a foot from my garage door.

Every installer that priced me was going out the same place so I assume its ok ?

please i am not asking a DIY ? If this is wrong I will have the installer come back just asking for someone who knows, again I am taking inside air for comb if that matters.

We are scared to use the furnace until we know

Your manual should have clearence listings for single and 2 pipe installation.
Since your single pipe, you have to use that clearence.
I don't have an install manual handy for Rheem 90%ers.

The newer furnaces of my brand are 36" for a 2 pipe.

well im reading this right it looks like for a non direct vent, is this what I have ??

It should be 6 FEET from inside corner and stick out form the wall 12"

Mine is neither....

I have a 45 2" pvc coming out of the wall and its 38" to the inside corner..


Now what ???

It says a direct vent can be 6" why can the 2 pipe be closer.


Am I in trouble now ????

This really Pi@@es me off I asked every installer and they said this spot was fine.

What will happen if I use it ??

Nothing will happen, the exhaust gases will dissipate before there is any chance of them entering the home anyway. And I doubt you plan on having your windows open while the heat is on. Really you are most likely making a big deal out of nothing, why even read the manual, that is the installers job.

Why not run the 2 pipes though?

I guess its not due to danger of fumes but rather something to do with comb air ???

It also says the pipe has to stick out 12" from house and mine doesn't

we ran the single pipe for 2 reasons, no room for the second and my house tends to be slightly humid in winter and they said IF I ran the second pipe this could add some humidity ??

Inside corners can cause combustion problems on windy days.

If you meet the clearence that the manual says, you'll be find.

Hivacer, what do you think the worst that will happen if im less than 6ft from the corner ??

the pipe is on the south side of my house and the intersecting wall runs north to south so its pretty protected.

Why would it be different with a 2 pipe system ??


Do you think this being in a corner that is sheilded from wind would matter ??

So by adding a second pipe next to this one for the air intake taht would make it ok ??

Man I cant figure this out

What kind of combustion problem could there be the furnace wouldnt run ??

Somone said you sometimes have problems with taking outside air on light fluffy snow days ???
