Trane Xl13i-No cooling during afternoon heat!

    Tucson,AZ 106 degrees today!

I have a Trane 13i heat pump that will not run during the day when it is hot outside.

Blower comes on, but the condenser unit just short cycles and will not run. The condenser and fan click on for 1-4 seconds then click off.

After the sun goes down, everything works good. It runs continuously and cools great.

    Any ideas?????

    yeah....

why did you get the solar option? I didn't think there was anyone stupid enough to go for that gig!!!

You don't happen to have an agreement with your electric company, do you? Ya know the one where your AC doesn't work at certain times of the day?

If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.

If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

Was the leak found and repaired when the system was found to be low on refrigerant charge?

Yes, it was freezing up. They found a leak near the outside unit and refilled it.
It worked good after words, and it is working good at the moment.

Sounds like 1 of 2 big things.

    1. The system charge is off. And needs to be adjusted to work properly during the higher loads.

    2. The system can't keep up with the heat. Depending on where you are and what the outdoor conditions are.....and what you are attempting to achieve with the stat.

    108 degrees - Full Sun

OK, maybe 1 is an option, 2 it was 87 in the house 105 outside and I tried setting it at 85 degrees and it said "No Mas" immediately.
