Don't forget Fujitsu Halcyon. They have a true DC variable speed compressor. What's nice is it only operates at the capacity needed rather than be all or nothing.

I wish more larger residential brands like Trane would ditch them POS twin compressor designs like they use in the XL19i and get a more efficient DC variable speed design. Trane had one almost 20 years ago, slightly ahead of it's time and then gave up on the idea.

I agree. Was working with a install guy, I was there to do the electrical hookup and such, turned around to get the vacuum pump and before I got back he had already opened the service valves. Have since quit that company and have started my own.

We have istalled McQuay, Sanyo, Chigo, Daikin, Mitsubishi,Goodman, Carrier. Out of all of them Mitsubishi has been the best by far, but as earlier stated in repleys they are all as good as the installation. Look for a factory trained company as these units may seem plug and play but, they are definitely not. Parts availability is the other major concern as someday they will break. One of these had a 3 month wait for a major component, but like anything else you get what you paid for!

    Daikin

Daikin seems to always have equipment in stock and have great customer service.
They also offer training and have some very quiet equipment.
I have installed them and they are very quiet.
    Variable speed indoor and out.

Fujitsu all the way. I put 2 Sanyo in my parents house and they work great and are very quiet but still say Fujitsu. Not a big LG fan. The installer is the most important part any brand installed properly will suit your needs.
