I have a bit of a problem. When i set the thermostat to around 70 the air never runs. it has to be around 69 to do anything. and when it is set to 69, it runs forever. the weird thing is that i can walk into my roommates room and it is nice and cool when the air is set to 72 or higher. my room and the kitchen area however, are very hot. i happen to have another thermostat and figured id turn it on in the hot rooms. it read 79 when the A/C was set to 70. Im not really sure what the deal is. how can it be 70 in the hallway and 79 in the kitchen directly next to the hallway? someone please help.
Do you have electric baseboard heat.
pay to have the t-stat indicator recalibrated,
or
just set it to whatever it takes to make U comfortable --
harvest rainwater, make SHADE,R75/50/30= roof/wall/floor, use HVAC mastic, caulk all wall seams!
thx for the replies. the problem was with the new thermostat i installed. i disconnected it from the wall and put in batteries then placed the unit in the freezer to see if the thermocouple (or whatever it is) worked. and guess what, no change in temp. the original thermostat worked like a champ. the new one stayed at 70 all the time. time to return and get another one. i was trying to help myself out with a thermostat that was programmable.
