Use the biggest hammer you like, pounding a square peg into a round hole does not equal a proper fit.

How are you checking for the grounded compressor? You need to put your meter from one prong on the compressor to a clean piece of copper. If you read something then the compressor is grounded.

    really?

I though you took a mirror and looked to see where the bolts through the bottom go.

Well, I guess I condemned a few too many. Maybe thats where I went wrong.

If you don't know, then don't do. If you don't know and still do, then be prepared to pay someone else a lot to undo what you did and then do it right.

If you do know, then do. But do it right. Otherwise, you may not be doing it long.

And here I thought you had to take it to see Doctor Laura to find out if it was grounded. Silly me.

Also, it does not have to be shorted to ground, the windings may be shorted together. Checking ohm readings and adding them in the correct combinations, would show this, but the fact is, this is all a waste of time because bottom line----Time for a new system be sure to go 410A! Feel free to continue beating it with a hammer though, darn compressor!
