compressor internal locked

is there any suggestion how to get a 4 ton hermetic copeland unlocked beside to replace it !!
its pop the 40 A breaker instantly.

did you check if is windings are gorunded??? also owm out winding.....and try to add hard star kit..........my ex boss (plumber) told one time to hit the compresor with 2x4 and hamer on top of of compresor.....i ruther to hit him on the head with 2x10 and slage hamer.....)

A hard start kit may work. I would recommend that you replace the entire system rather than the compressor. Replacement compressors generally have half the life as the original compressor. Is replacing the compressor really in the clients best interest?

If it trips the breaker instantly, a hard start ain't gonna help it now.

If your breaker is tripping as soon as you reset it the compressor is more then likely grounded. If it was locked up it would not trip the breaker right away. To make sure that it is a grounded compressor you can ohm out the terminals on the compressor.

i did check the winding , there is no grounded , and hard start kit dont help neither. disconnected the crankcase heater,it was open anyway .

knocked with 2x4 many time, it just dead , trip the breaker immediately .
winding read resistant 5 x 4 x 1.
its rheem unit 14 years old.
replace the comp only is the best choice for the money today.
not much different but it still get the full comp warranty.

i did check the winding , there is no grounded , and hard start kit dont help neither.

You should of used the old analog "needle meter" because it is shorted through the oil. I love the digi's, but not for checking that.

And, if you just replace the compressor at least replace it with a scroll. Step ur game up a notch.

Replacing the condenser would be an improvment for both you and the customer in most cases.
