Questions on new install
Just had central a/c installed. Never lived in a house with it before so I am not familiar with its operation. House is 1000 square feet on unshaded property in Maryland. Unit is 13 seer 1.5 ton. Attic is well insulated with attic fan. On 100 degree day the unit will run nonstop and maintain 71 degrees indoor temp. Outlet temp at register is 54 degrees. Is the unit supposed to run 100% of the time on a day like that or is it supposed to shut off once in a while? I'm just wondering if the unit is undersized or working properly. Thanks

At 100° outdoor temp and 71° indoor temp for Maryland, it shouldn't shut off.

I don't think your going to get a better system anywhere. It's not undersized. If it was only maintaining a temperature of 76 inside and running all day- you may be able to say it's undersized. if it is 85 degrees outside and you are maintaining 74 inside - it will cycle off and on. Your expectations seem a little too high.

I didnt know what to expect. Thats why I asked. I work on Heavy trucks for a living and I do work on their a/c systems. Automotive systems and home systems have way different operating characteristics like register temp. Thanks for the info.

Sounds great to me.
BTW, twilli is this little old man that pops up, usually has a 1 word, or at most, 1 sentence answer.
Scary lookin' thing, see his picture by his name!
