    Cool HC10-- HC16 air cleaner

If I get a hc10 cleaner installed. will a merv 16 filter work in it.

I have heard that I should get a pre filter in front of the merv 10 or 16 to protect it from large cloging particles.

    true or false.

house is 15 yrs old ---2 kids no pets

Thanks for the sanity check I have read so many of these posts I am on over load.

Is there any real reason to install the HC16 over the HC10

better filtration if needed, unless someone in the house has severe allergies or other problems with very small particles i would stick with the 10 due to the price difference.

with both filters able to fit the cabinet you can try both and see what you prefer.
